Blogging Week: Collaborations

There’s a lot of talk about the “blogging community” but sometimes its hard to figure out where you fit in when just starting out. I remember feeling like I was posting into this void where only my closest friends & mother could find it!

The best way to feel a part of this community is to reach out & start participating in it. Working with fellow bloggers allows you to start forming relationships while also bringing new traffic to both of your sites.

Two easy ways to do this are to set up your own series or to join in a collaborative series. Setting up your own series is a lot of work but creatively rewarding. I set up the Currently Loving series by emailing bloggers I thought might want to participate weeks in advance. This gave them time to work on it & me a chance to get a schedule set up.

Or you can skip all that hard work by signing up with a group series like Art to Inspiration or Friday’s Fancies. You’re emailed the theme & then you put together your own post each week or month. Through Twitter, Facebook, & other forms of social media you can connect with other bloggers who have participated. Its a great way to discover new blogs, form a common bond, & become a part of a blogging group!

Don’t be afraid to reach out to other bloggers- I have never gotten a negative response & most bloggers get really excited about new opportunities to work together!
