One of my 2012 resolutions was to get my life organized.
I’ve always been someone who needs everything in their proper place, which I blame on my only child upbringing. I also have always needed some sort of agenda book to write down my schedule & any due dates, which I blame on my natural spaciness.
However, this year has been a bit chaotic, especially with a lot of different things going on at work.
So in order to get myself more put together & prepared I stepped back to look at my stuff.
And it was a disaster.
Instead of going through my house like a tornado, I decided to be more calm & tackle a project at a time.
My closet was overflowing with useless items that I no longer needed, so I streamlined my jewelry, cleaned out some headbands that made me look like I was 12, & got rid of makeup from 2003.
The rest of my closets- not so much.
However, I decided to look at what I do use to keep myself organized & build upon that.
I keep my agenda book with my schedule in it religiously, otherwise it just won’t happen. I have a separate To Do list mousepad for work, since I have a lot of steps to go through for each lesson. And having stood in front of a room of 30 15-year olds & realized that oops, the homework was never copied, I want to make sure I don’t miss anything!
I firmly believe in starting your morning organized to set the tone of the day so my jewelry, underwear drawer, & clothes are all super organized. The Container Store has a ton of great little drawer & shelf organizers, plus my clothes are all in order by type. Its cuts down (a little) on morning dressing anxiety.
The filing folder is supposed to cut down on random papers around the house- in reality my husband likes to make piles of papers that only he understands. Once they lie around the house for a few weeks though they do manage to make it into the folder.
So now that my stuff is organized, how do I get on top of my actual life?!
