Tea Time

My husband just came back from a business trip in London.

And while I am very jealous, at least I got a nice present of tea from him!

While I love tea, I neglect it in the summer because I’m not a huge fan of iced tea (weird, I know).

Looking through the Twinings website, though, I discovered a number of fun recipes to use with tea! I thought I’d share two that looked perfect for summer cocktails in the heat!

{Disclaimer: I have tried neither yet …. but I will be!}

Serves 6

Tea: Blackcurrant Breeze

Ingredients:

6 Blackcurrant tea bags

2 cups boiling water

1/2 cup sugar

2 cups tawny port wine

2 oranges, thinly sliced

1 lemon, thinly sliced

1 lime, thinly sliced

2 cups club soda, chilled

ice cubes

Directions:

Pour boiling water over tea and steep for 5 minutes. Strain and stir in sugar until dissolved. Chill until ready to serve.

Just before serving stir in the port wine, fruit slices, and soda. Add ice. Serve very cold.

Tea: Darjeeling

Ingredients:

2 cups cold Darjeeling tea

7 oz. sugar

8 oz. brandy

4 oz light rum

25 oz dry white wine

4 cups lemonade

1 15 oz can pineapple chunks

slices of lemon and orange

ice cubes

a few maraschino cherries

Directions:

Steep tea for 3-5 minutes. Set aside to cool. Combine tea, sugar, brandy, rum, and undrained pineapple chunks. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Pour into a punch bowl, add the remaining ingredients and serve.

One Response to Tea Time

  1. It’s always nice to get a little “something” when someone returns from a trip!! I didn’t grow up drinking iced tea…..kind of odd since i grew up in Texas….but now I can’t get enough of it.

    Bottoms up!!!
