Let them eat cake….. pops

I have a new obsession: cake pops.

This new full blown obsession was set in stone at last Friday’s wedding.

Instead of cutting slices of cake for everyone (which would’ve sat there because our group can’t waste time eating cake when there’s dancing involved) they had cake pops.

And they were delicious.

(Apparently so much so that I never took a picture of them,  I just ate.)

I love them so much I’m considering a new project of learning how to make them. (And if you know me, you know I do not like projects that involve the kitchen!)

Seriously, look at all these ideas:

I might have to work on these for our next Christmas party……

Or these for Thanksgiving with friends…..

If I wasn’t doing things like actually preparing for the year I might make these for back to school.

These are just cute.

There are tons of ideas online and of course, cookbooks.

Anyone tried making these before? Should I just buy some and pretend I made them?!

  1. Rachel says:

My boss bought me the cake pops book a few months ago. They aren’t difficult to make, but are more time intensive then you’d think. I brought all my decorating supplies into the living room and dipped the pops while watching tv. I made a few plain batches, just dipped in pretty candy, before trying any of the decorated pops. Fortunately my office was willing to serve as taste testers for me. I eventually made a batch of the pirate pops from the book for my sister’s baby shower. I did pink bandana’s instead of red since it was for a girl. They were a hit, if I do say so myself. If you do decide to make then, shop around for supplies – it can get expensive if you let it. Also, if you use boxed cake mix instead of homemade, Trader Joe’s cake mixes are great. My grandmother and my mom (a former dessert chef) thought I made rhe cake from scratch.

  2. I’m obsessed with these too and I haven’t even tasted one. They are just too cute! In addition to the cute Cake Pops book, which I’ve seen, there is a little cake pop machine I saw at Bed, Bath and Beyond which would make them in a snap. Then, you can just enjoy the decorating part! 🙂

    Have fun!!
