Shameless plug

For the past two years I have participated with my friend in the Susan G Komen 3Day for the Cure.

Throughout the year we have to raise at least $2300 each, which allows us to participate in the walk. All the money goes towards breast cancer research and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

All of this leads up to a 3 day weekend in which we walk 60 miles total (about 20 miles each day). Its pretty exhausting but its a great experience and I can’t wait to do it again this fall!

So I’m using this forum to ask you to consider donating to my team – Team Girls Gone Wild!

And also to share with you the craziness that is the 3Day.

During the day we have multiple pit stops for food, water, and rest.

We walk all throughout Washington DC and up through Maryland. The best part is the people who come out to cheer us on and the attention we get for such an important cause.

Once the day is over we’re bused to our camp, which is a whole other world…..

We sleep in bright pink tents! Which forms a little pink village.

We have a main street where there is a store, post office, massage area, and our food….. all in tents. Volunteers get up super early to start making us breakfast.

Both the camp and the pit stops are equipped with more port-a-potties than you’ve ever seen. Or wanted to see. Using a real bathroom becomes a luxury!

But after 3 days of waking up early, sleeping on the ground, walking until it hurts to sit, stand, or move in general- you finally finish. And the feeling of accomplishment and elation is well worth it!

We’re excited to be participating in our 3rd walk (you’d be surprised how many people do this year after year…. some even do multiple walks in one year). And I hope you’ll consider donating to me or to someone you know who is also doing the walk.

In the meantime, I’m going to be spending a lot of time training!!!!!
